We’re working on revising the site, refreshing the content, and launching our next iteration by 2011. However, until then, we’re answering travel questions on our facebook wall – we’ll do what we can to get you the help and information you need.

Thanks for your patience…

Over the first 10 years of my budget travel career, there’s been one aspect of the travel planning process that has always bothered me. Whether I was planning a new itinerary, or in the middle of a trip – I knew where I wanted to go but it was much harder than it should have been to find out how to get between two places. Sure, air travel is fast and available in nearly all decent size cities, but it also comes with a hefty price tag (in more ways than one). Guidebooks only list so much transit information, they didn’t have the depth of information I am usually looking for, such as:

Does ____ (bus, rail, ferry, car, etc.) type of travel even exist between these cities?

How long does it take to travel between these cities by ____?

How much does it cost to travel between these cities by ____?

Are there any overnight travel options between these cities?

Passport Junkie is my attempt to solve that problem. I’m starting small, but hoping this first attempt captures the attention of other travelers who have dealt with the same issue, gives some non-travelers more confidence towards making that first international trip, and builds enough momentum for the site to grow. I’ve put my love of travel, passion for helping others, and many many many hours of work into this adventure – but do not want it to stop there. I hope you’ll let me know what you think about the site through email, official site feedback, phone calls, or even knocking on my door if you’re passing through San Francisco….because I want the budget travel community to determine how far Passport Junkie can go and what Passport Junkie can become.
