Can I search for travel between two regions (New York to Paris, for example)?
Currently, no. Since travel between two regions is often very long distance, it is almost always only feasible by air. The focus of Passport Junkie is on comparing the alternate modes of transportation available between two cities in the same region (the cities one would visit on a backpacking trip through that region). Sites like Kayak, Orbitz, and Expedia are better for air-only travel searches. However, this feature has been suggested on our feedback page, so you can vote for it if it is something you feel is most important to add to the site.
Why is the price I found for a trip so different than the price shown on Passport Junkie?
Passport Junkie search results show you the amount of money you should expect to pay for a given trip. Prices you find from individual companies will likely be either a little higher or a little lower (and occasionally right on the nose!)- but the amount shown on Passport Junkie should at least allow you to understand the relative difference in cost between taking a train, a bus, or a plane. In the world of fares, things change constantly – air fares especially – and right now we’re not quite advanced enough to keep up our projections any faster than on a monthly basis. Fares for other transport modes are generally more stable, but are sometimes subject to last-minute fluctuations as well.
